Gateway Lodge offers a charming, historic getaway in a beautiful natural setting, particularly praised for its restaurant and friendly staff. While frequently lauded for its relaxing atmosphere and scenic location, some guests have noted issues with dated rooms and inconsistent service.

Had a wonderful stay at Gateway Lodge. The area is incredibly beautiful, and the lodge is charming and historic. Really enjoyed having breakfast brought to our room each morning. The restaurant is a highlight - good, wholesome food that is thoughtfully prepared. They also have an impressive wine list and plenty of regional beers. Staff is friendly and helpful. Hidden gem.

The folks working here were very pleasant and welcoming. Loved the restaurant experience (see more below). The lodge itself is rustic, cozy, and comfortable. The daily breakfast delivery is a nice touch and is left with a knock at the door around 9am. Our room had a balcony overlooking trees and a few parked vehicles, and the hot tub was essential after a long day of hiking. The only downside was the bed was a bit too firm for me and there was a musty stuffy feel upon first entering the room. The restaurant was perfect after a day of hiking. Great service, relaxed, lovely decor, mellow. Loved the potato soup, apple salad, mushroom crepes, vast wine list, and more. The salmon and pizza we had was OK.

Beautiful and scenic. A great relaxing getaway. Luxury cabin is gorgeously designed and well kept. Prices are fair for the stay. Only complaint is for a luxury cabin there should be a tv (not to take away from the breath taking views, but just incase or of you like sleeping with one on) Also, there should be curtains on all the windows... the prefix Saturday evening at the lodge was very relaxing, grateful music and beautiful. Food was good, but a bit overpriced for what was served, portions and variety. All of the grounds were very well kept, modern and whimsy. Staff was extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the locality. Definitely will visit again. Also, sidenote for luxury cabin they do include a lot of extras lile board games, fully equipped kitchen, nice soap etc. But a few more than 4 towels would be nice considering there is a hot tub, and also while I love the double shower all the water sprayed out to the floor no matter how much you pointed the heads to the wall. And a slightly larger couch then a loveseat would have been more fitting. Otherwise I found the cabin and grounds very enjoyable and will visit again. Thank you

Gateway lodge has some nice aspects to the overall visit and it was a nice weekend getaway, but overall it didn’t quite match the price. The property itself has potential and the setting is beautiful, but many things in our room felt outdated and in need of repair. For example, some tiles around the hot tub needed caulking and the bathroom door needed a door stop to keep it open. Our room also lacked some basic comforts we expected at this price, like a TV, and the temperature was very difficult to regulate. It was either too hot or too cold, and we spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to get it comfortable. We also dined at the restaurant on site, which was about $75 per plate. Unfortunately, the meal was disappointing. The food lacked flavor, the textures were mushy, and the portions were surprisingly small for the price. We liked that the breakfasts wete served in a basket to out room door, that was a sweet touch and those were yummy. The staff we interacted with were kind, and you can tell they enjoyed helping to accomodate guests. However, for the cost we expected a more polished and comfortable experience. With some updates and attention to the food quality, this could be a really great place to stay.

My husband and I just spent the weekend here in a fireside suite for our anniversary. We LOVED our experience so much. The room was great, the service was great. We ate at the restaurant on Saturday night and the food was AMAZING. We also did wine pairings with the meal and the man was amazing giving us the history of the wines. Staff was so knowledgeable about the area and trails and helped us out. We had the best, relaxing, adventurous weekend and will be coming back for our next anniversary. Any staff we dealt with was so kind. Thank you for a great experience!!

We visit several times a year. Always a relaxing wonderful time. Very cozy and a great location. Cook forest is a beautiful place to visit any season of the year and having this hidden gem to retreat to after whatever activities you are doing is such a blessing.

We stayed for the Hygge in the Wilds getaway package and it did not disappoint! The room was perfect and the dinner amazing! We highly recommend the wine pairing with dinner! We were quite surprised with the breakfast basket, as well! We enjoyed every aspect of our stay and are looking forward to a future stay!

Such a beautiful location and building. Our room had hot tub, fireplace and patio. Lodge was full to capacity but it felt private and peaceful. Wife loved the quiet. Many hiking trails nearby. Enjoyed onsite restaurant Fri for pizza and sat night multi course deluxe meal. Checkin was easy and accommodating. Staff was helpful, kind, and conversational.

My wife and i visited Gateway Lodge last in 2011. We recently decided we were ready to take a long (kid free) weekend away. We stayed in a fireside suite and loved it. The rooms and property were extremely neat and clewn. The great room looked just as beautiful as it did in 2011. We are not wine connoisseurs, however, Rob was extremely helpful in guiding us to great selections all weekend. We enjoyed dinner at the lodge on Friday, complete with a bottle of wine, and both enjoyed our meals. We can't wait to return for another stay.
