Toftrees Golf Resort offers a beautiful natural setting, particularly suitable for weddings and events, as highlighted by positive feedback regarding the outdoor ceremony location and wedding planner. However, recent reviews consistently raise concerns about outdated room conditions, cleanliness issues, and inconsistent service experiences.

On a work trip in November and the hotels power went out for five hours of the overnight trip. Pitch black most of the night, no back up lights, no one let anyone know what was going on or expected times for power to come back on. There was no back up generator. They would not refund my stay. Staff said they refunded 25$ to booking.com and booking.com said they did not.

Absolutely disgusting. Not cleaned from the last person that stayed. Garbage on the ground, dirty towels on the ground, and best of all, BLOODY BED SHEETS!!! Nasty. Stay away!

Just finished our daughter’s wedding at Toftrees. The hotel is a bit dated for sure but the nature that surrounds it is outstanding. For a wedding destination this place is ?! The outdoor ceremony location overlooks the golf course, pond and mountains - so beautiful. The wedding planner, Katie, is simply awesome at her job. She is completely devoted to ensure that your event is flawless and she delivered! She deserves a raise no matter what she is making. If you are looking to get married in the State College area, do yourself a favor and meet with Katie. Almost forgot to mention…The Fields restaurant on-site is a huge value! The food is outstanding the the prices are unbelievably low.

As a venue, the facility is beautiful and the food is great however, the hotel rooms look like they haven’t been updated since the early 90s, musty, peeling wallpaper, the tub sounded like I was going to fall through it when showering, and the patio was covered in grass clippings and the chairs in dust. I got a “deluxe” room so I at least had a mini fridge but there was still no microwave with the exception of one in the lobby that barely works, I was disappointed to say the least. They also automatically place a charge at check in with a $100 security deposit with no warning and then charged my account the real fee before the original fee with the $100 hold plus the room charge came off of my account bouncing my bank account and causing issues with paying my bills. Like I said, as a venue, they’re amazing but if I were have to be there for another event I would definitely sleep down the road at another hotel.

Stayed here for a wedding on-site and the room was definitely on the lower end of hotel I’ve stayed in. Definitely outdated (which is fine, but could absolutely use a refresh and some color other than brown), but the room was very much not clean and had visible gunk spread throughout the room. The clean towels in the bathroom had hairs and other dirt in them, and worst of all was that the pillows were larger than the pillowcases so part of the pillow was sticking out no matter how much we tried to stuff it in. The ac unit in the room was also extremely loud and the sheets were quite scratchy. Heads up, the restaurant only offers a breakfast buffet on weekends and doesn’t have their full menu available, which messed up our plans since this wasn’t stated online. Also the employees at the restaurant seemed annoyed that we showed up for breakfast (all the other employees here were very friendly, so this was a stark change). The restroom at the restaurant was also very dirty so I ended up just walking back to my room to use the facilities. Credit where credit is due though, the tv had an excellent selection of channels, and the dessert at the restaurant was tasty and a good value. I also liked how large the bathroom mirror was and lots of counter space in there. The golf course looked nice from the parts I could see. If I find myself in the area again, I will definitely be staying somewhere else.

The front desk receptionist was very kind and friendly. Restaurant hostess was very rude to us when we walked in. They were busy and it was 930, she told us they closed at 10 and she didn’t want to seat us. A nice waitress came over and offered to seat us immediately and apologized, stating that they just can’t take orders after 10 and that we were fine to sit and eat. Milkshakes were great! Rooms were horrific. Tiny beds and room. I turned on the fan and it made the loudest noise, sounding like I was taking off in a jet. We were then forced to be very hot all night, rather than listen to the fan in the room. The bathroom was gross and outdated, with the bottom of the curtain and shower floor browning. The layout was confusing and hard to get to other rooms. We paid an outrageous amount to stay and were disappointed overall.
