This Best Western Plus offers a mixed experience, praised for friendly staff and a convenient location near Penn State and shopping. However, recent reviews highlight significant issues with room conditions, amenities, and overall value, particularly regarding outdated beds, plumbing problems, and limited services.
I come here at least one a month and everyone is always so nice. Breakfast is great!!! What I really LOVEEEE is that this is the only hotel I know that has black make up towels for us ladies. I love it!!!
The room was bare bones for a hotel that charged $600 a night. There was no hand soap, laundry bag, extra comforter (pull out), coffee machine or tea. The shower drain was broken along with the shower faucet. It was either scalding hot or cold. The next morning, they had no water. But offered bottled water. When we requested bottles of water for 2 people they handed us one small bottle of water. Seriously! I would not stay there again.
Great experience. Everything was clean and even when there's an inconvenience the hotel accommodates best as possible. Great thanks to Carl, front desk associate.
Had some issues with Expedia, but the Manager Carl was incredibly helpful. Not only did he help us out, he was very kind and friendly. Having said all of this, I saw him working the desk one evening and then saw him again the next morning...13 hours later. Hard to find people like this...I hope the owners of this hotel know how lucky they are to have a quality employee like this. We will stay here again because of Carl.
I frequently stay at this hotel, because it’s what my job is willing to pay for when I have to stay in this town. I’m not a fan. The beds are old, it feels like you’re sleeping in a groove that you can’t easily roll out of. The pillows are terrible. The only ones that have any level of support whatsoever feel like they are full of clumps/balls of stuffing. The wireless network is pretty terrible. If you’re up on the fourth floor, you’re just better off using your cell network with a hotspot It’s so bad. Also, recently they took all of the coffee makers out of the rooms, telling us that there’s a coffee maker in the lobby. When I asked why, I was told it was more sanitary. For starters, the coffee that comes out of those machines is terrible; it reminds me of the instant coffee machines at my local community college. Furthermore, there is absolutely no way it is more sanitary. I just shined the flashlight of my phone around the nozzle area and was disgusted by what I saw. Edit: I’ve added photos of the coffee makers in the lobby that are supposedly more sanitary than the ones in the room…
This hotel needs a major overhaul. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. The bed was so used you feel like you are sleeping in a bowl, the room/carpet smelled like mold, the bathroom needs a major upgrade and has no water pressure, and the breakfast was just cereal and bread.
Had the best time for the weekend with my family of 3. Spacious room. The beds were nice. My bonus son had a great time at the pool. Close to Penn State, and a shopping center. Also Sheetz was a nice place close by for food. The view of the mountain from our room was great too. Second floor was a little noisy in the morning. I could hear stomping from upstairs and noise from the lobby, but outside of the morning breakfast hours, it was quiet.
