Bellefonte/State College KOA Holiday consistently receives positive feedback, praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained grounds, and friendly staff. Guests particularly enjoyed the fishing pond, quiet atmosphere, and proximity to Penn State. However, some reviews highlight issues with cabin size and inconsistent customer service, particularly regarding cancellations and reservation accuracy.
Very clean with well maintained grounds. The staff is amazing, very responsive and helpful. We enjoyed our stay in the deluxe cabin. Nice selection of amenities. Fishing pond is wonderful. Already rebooked for next year!
Compared to all the KOAs we’ve stayed in this was the one of the best. It had nice level RV sites. Ours was buffered by trees and most importantly it was quiet - we didn’t hear any trains or semi trucks all night. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The facilities were clean and well maintained. One down side i noticed was the rust color of the water. We hooked up our water filter and softener so we weren’t too bothered by it. Thankful for a restful night’s sleep.
We booked a cabin to come up and visit Penn State with our son with plans to stay the weekend and see the football game. 3 weeks prior, we found out our son's team might qualify for states. I called the campground and was informed by the staff that we could cancel up to one week prior to our dates. We found out we had to cancel 10 days prior, and I called the campground to amend our reservations. I was informed we actually needed 2 weeks notice and we were given poor information. I emailed the owner about the situation and explained everything. Within 5 minutes, I got an email back saying sorry but you signed the cancellation agreement so they would not offer us anything. While I did sign the cancellation agreement, I would have hoped for some consideration given their staff providing erroneous information to me. I would have hoped the owner would work with me on something (some portion of refund, credit for a future stay, etc.), but apparently repeat business is not a priority. My wife tried again when we checked out early with the manager, but received a very cold response then as well. As for the campground, it is well maintained. The cabins are VERY small and the floorplans online do not prepare you for how little space is in them. We would definitely have used them again for a larger cabin had we received better customer service.
Our family had an awesome time staying at this KOA campground on a recent visit to Penn State. All the hotels closer to Penn State were full… So we stumbled upon this option. We will probably look at staying in this campground cabins as a primary option. next time we go to Penn State! Thank you, Casey and team!
Nice campground with clean modern restrooms & shower. Our site could’ve used more shade and you can hear a little bit of noise from the highway, but nice quiet pond to sit by on the far side of the campground.
Beautiful campground. Spotless, and quiet. My teen boys enjoyed the fishing pond and bike course. We did the nearby Penns Cave and Wildlife tour which was awesome, and had dinner in the lovely historic Bellefonte. Koa staff was very friendly, we really enjoyed our trip.
Best campground I’d ever stayed in. Clean, quiet, bathrooms were spacious, plenty of hot water. People had dogs, but none of them barked. It was a pleasure to stay here. Will be back.
The owner Casey and the rest of the staff at KOA have gone above and beyond for us and our family for over seven years. We come the same week every year and every year Casey, the owner, is constantly on the ground working on improvements and making sure the campers are happy and accommodated. He hires people who follow the same moral tactic he has instilled in this campground. It’s truly a wonderful place and our family truly enjoys gathering here every year. The amount of memories the KOA campground has provided us is nothing short of incredible. Thank you KOA for another amazing year in the books. See you next year!
This campground is not a nice place to stay, pool was not clean bathrooms were in disrepair and closed by the pool and the owner is not truthful and doesn’t really care about your experience. This is NOT Big Rig friendly especially with the construction. The owner said he had 14 foot wide cabins delivered and that is not possible. I spoke with the State DOT engineer on the road construction project and 10ft is the max during construction, which makes sense since we had about 8 inches on each side while driving down Jacksonville rd. I know it’s not the campground fault but the could be honest about it and not put people in a tough dangerous spot. Would never stay here again or recommend to anyone!
Thank you to Bellfonte KOA for getting us in on no notice in a rain storm. Our tow vehicle was having issues and they got us a spot early in the day and allowed us late check out the next. We were able to get our new tow vehicle ready and get back on the road safely. Campsites are well laid out and neatly kept. The bathhouse is among the nicest I have used at a campground. Amenities looked great, but our rush to get our truck repaired did not allow time to take advantage. I recommend staying at this location near I-80 and I-99 in Central PA.
