Thought the room and accommodations in the room were excellent. The location is great if your looking for peace and quiet. If your looking for a restaurant or bar though there's nothing within walking distance. The hotel has a bar and restaurant but the bar closed at 10 and restaurant was already closed when I got there, so if you get in late or want a late night snack you have to have it delivered from somewhere else. I did go to the restaurant in the morning for breakfast and the food was good but what did b I ther me is they leave the creamer out on the tables at room temperature, and there were lines of gunk around the inside of the creamer jar which was very off-putting. Very fancy restaurant vibe, when I asked for my check the waitress spent 10 min straightening chairs and cleaning off other tables before finally going back to get my check.

Outstanding restaurant with cool sports vibe. Rooms are big and clean, bathroom shower had great pressure & volume (rare combo in a hotel). Front desk staff was very helpful throughout our stay.

Stayed at this location for about a week md during the snow storm . Overall the stay was great, beautiful hotel and unique rooms I stayed in a few styles. The front desk staff was professional and kind - Sherrie M. was wonderful and always helpful with a smile no matter how frigid the lobby was. Thankfully management had the fire place fixed towards the end of the stay. Sunday brunch had more than we expected and something for everyone. The other restaurants coffee shop we great as well . The maintenance staff was helpful and professional and the rooms and linen were clean. Looking forward to staying again due in the fall. Again, thank you Sherrie M, for all you did to ensure we had a great stay.

Room was dirty - hair all over bathroom floor - behind the door and carpet in bedroom looked like it had not been swept. There was also stuff under the bed - trash, bottle cap. Bed linens feel like sand paper. This hotel is below average for just recently being remodeled. I would not stay here again.

I had the privilege of dining and staying overnight at the Penn Stater in January 2026. I love love love the newly renovated guest rooms. The breakfast buffet at The Gardens always has plenty of options and the parking is a breeze. I like that it is within a quick drive of campus and downtown State College.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Legends restaurant has some good food and a variety of dishes. The convention center space met our needs for our special event.

I rarely write reviews, especially negative reviews. But in this case, the minimum expectations were not met and it’s only fair to share. Let me preface this with- it wasn’t a football weekend so the room WAS rather cheap. Regardless, this is not a roadside motel and cheap or not, this hotel is one of the worst I have stayed in. Let’s review. 1. We arrived exhausted and ready for bed on a chilly November night: when we walked in the heat panel was OFF the wall and there was zero heat. My boyfriend runs hot. He was cold in his puffer. You could see inside the heating system because the panel was off. It was so cold even the CARPET WAS COLD. They offered us…blankets. Said they were “pretty much booked” and would not get us another room. They sent a SECURITY GUARD up, not a maintenance worker. They must not have maintenance workers in the evening. He was on speaker phone with his boss for an hour until midnight before it finally kicked in. In the middle of the night the metal heating panel BLEW OFF THE WALL. It was loud and scary. Additionally there is a red liquid running down and staining the panel. Someone came into the room to check it while we were gone the next day. Why not….clean that? Isn’t that a standard of care? 2. Soap? I didn’t bring my own soap this trip. I figured it’s a quick one I’ll just use hotel soap. Listen, this is the most masculine smelling cheap cologne soap. Why not something unisex? It’s literally disgusting. Put a little bar of soap with little to no scent. This isn’t thoughtful or considerate of women. 3. Again, not being thoughtful about women- no shower cap? Why not? 4. The bathtub was rusted and had another guests hair in it. 5. Someone came and took our used towel but didn’t make the bed. This isn’t Covid times anymore. Turn down the room. 6. We brought half and half for coffee in the morning and the refrigerator did not work. The cleaning person also did not replace coffee things for the next morning. 7. Lastly, when we checked out both garbage cans outside the hotel were OVERFLOWING with trash. There was garbage on the ground at the main entrance. Imagine paying home football game rates for this. I’d be furious.

Not sure where to start. I stayed here for a conference using both the conference hall and the hotel. When I arrived the first thing I noticed was the severe draft coming from my window. My saggy bed and chipping bath tub. Upon going to plug in my belongings I found only wall plugs rather than USB’s which was surprising for a conference center. The WiFi is “there” but basically non existent when people are in the hotel which, they are all the time because you know. It’s a hotel and conference center. I couldn’t receive or make phone calls my entire trip unless I was outside. At conference time the lady running the concierge counter gave my lunch to someone else because she was letting people grab whatever rather than checking their lunch tickets; I was offered the buffet as an option for replacement but that meant missing the conference I was actually there for; I had additionally chosen a specific lunch because of health restrictions. I was in sessions until 6:30 so by the time I got to the downstairs restaurant the wait was over an hour. I ended up not eating my first day here. My favorite part was being woken up at 7:15 AM by a group outside on a megaphone doing science experiments with smoke right outside my window from a bus. So to put it succinctly, I didn’t rest well. I couldn’t conference here. I didn’t eat well. And I certainly didn’t enjoy my stay.

Rooms were lovely and clean. Front desk staff was not especially friendly or helpful. Hotel is very large and can be easy to get lost. Was still being renovated in some areas. If disabled or elderly, be sure to request a room near the elevators. Google will take you to scam booking sites, be sure to book direct.

Great renovation. Common areas extraordinary. Rooms nicely appointed. Service, valet, concierge all very pleasant and competent. Nice coffee bar with good breakfast and brunch options and lively pub with bar food. Did not dine but did note excellent wine list in restaurant.
