The Avid and Candlewood Hotel offers a generally positive experience, with recent guests praising cleanliness and exceptional customer service. However, recent reviews highlight significant issues with room maintenance, including heating problems, thin walls, and a lack of certain amenities.
The Avid Hotel Bellefonte is surprisingly dirty, for having only been open a few months. The grout on the bathroom floor was grimy, and there were dirty streaks down the front of the toilet. The glass shower door had greasy smudges on it. Housekeeping never cleaned my room, the first day of my stay. I complained at the front desk, so they did clean it second day, then they skipped my room again the third day. The public spaces of the hotel were also not that clean.
We stayed here for 3 nights. Our truck broke down, and the owner was remarkable. He tried everything to get it started. His advice helped us, and we were able to leave a day late. The rooms are extremely clean, breakfast was very good, and the location was perfect for us. I highly recommend this space.
Hotel is in great location near Bellfonte. Our room was very clean , the breakfast met my husbands "picky" standards. We had an issue with our rooms heating unit making a loud noise. We were quickly reassigned another room. The level of customer service was exceptional. Credit to Sanjae who got us reassigned and even helped us move our baggage to another room. Sanjae was great to talk to, very professional, and always followed up on any of our requests.
Beautiful place, super clean, great coffee... Stayed for 2 days and the experience was amazing ??
The hotel itself was nice — only a few things I’d complain about. There was very little water pressure in the shower, there was no fridge or microwave in the room so I had to go to the lobby to heat up food. The room was very clean, very stocked. The check in process was smooth and easy.
I definitely would recommend anyone to this hotel, its new, the coffee is top tier ??, breakfast tastes amazing ?? ? customer service was above and beyond... Love the king suite room I stayed in which was also pet friendly... Definitely going back soon
This hotel is amazing I’ll definitely be coming back
I just drove from california to Nyc and this was absolutely the worst hotel i stayed at. As my mother would say you can't put lipstick on a pig. the walls are thin, you hear everything. The heater in my room did not work, it blew out cold air on one side hot air on the other. My room was freezing, I had to request extra blankets and slept under three. There is some weird fire alarm light that blinks green all night, disrupting sleep and the light in the bathroom in on motion control, so if you have to pee in the middle of the night, the lights go on and again disrupt sleep. Why not have just a little night light, like every other hotel I stayed in on my trip. There is one ice machine in the hotel on the first floor. There is no courtesy cups in the bathroom, and no little coffee maker in the room. So if you want to drink your water or whatever and are not carrying cups with you, you have to go down to the first floor to get a cup, where they have coffee service. I can understand if you do not want to have coffee service in every room, but at least put a few courtesy cups in the bathroom. There is no mini fridge in the room, like every other hotel I stayed in on my journey. And no real closet just a bunch of hooks, which isn't horrible unless there are two people then it would be tricky. Oh I also got the mountain view room which basically looks out over the parking lot at a small hill. Holiday inn expres, hampton inn, comfort inn, bonvoy my marriott all the usual suspects are definitely better. And it's a bit of a drive from 80. My mistake hopefully you won't make the same one. Oh and they put a $50 incidental charge on your credit card in case you damage the room. Seems like a cash flow scam grab if you ask me, as there is nothing in the room to really damage. Let's see how long it takes them to put the. money back in my credit card, especially since I was basically for under 12 hours huddled under the blankets to stay warm. It's a new. place and they cheaped out on the construction, it looks good and modern but you hear everything from outside and the room next door. Also they have horrible light bulbs that are like the worst fluorescent. You can't put lipstick on a pig. The only good thing about it, is the really nice woman who works at night and who really tried to make the heat in my room work. she was great, hope she finds a better property to work at.
